Why is he on our inspiration board?

Dan has had an interesting path in life to be sure. Born in Aberdeen Scotland, spent parts of his childhood in Ecuador and Colombia, joined the Navy SEALs, and then ran for Congress to represent Teas's 2nd congressional district. That's a pretty interesting life story we'd love to unpack.

He was born in Aberdeen, Scotland, to American parents. He grew up primarily in Katy, Texas, but also spent parts of his childhood in Ecuador and Colombia due to his father's work in the oil industry.

Big break in life

His parents would describe Dan as resilient, ambitions, and disciplined, given his early idea of joining the Navy SEALs and his drive to overcome personal adversity.

His "big break" came from his courage and recovery after losing his right eye to an IED blast in Afghanistan in 2012. This incident catapulted him into the public eye and shaped his eventual entry into politics.
