He was raised in Marshalltown, Iowa, as the adopted son of educators Jerald and Agnes Zeihan. He graduated in 1992, and earned a BS in political science at North Missouri State University, followed by a postgraduate diploma in Asian sutidies at the University of Otago in New Zealand. Peter began working as an analyst for Stratfor, a geopolitical intelligence firm based in Austin, Texas. Today he lives in Evergreen, Colorado.
His significant breakthrough came in 2014 with the publication of his first book, "The Accidental Superpower," which received widespread acclaim and established him as a leading voice in geopolitics.
